Pseudonymous servers (Nymservers)

Pseudonymous servers (Nymservers) utilize encrypted remailer chains to provide virtually untracable e-mail addresses. Even the operator cannot discover your true identity. Yet, unlike the anonymous remailers, you can receive mail as well.

Nymservers or newnym let you establish a permanent e-mail address which forwards mail to your real address via a chain of Type-I remailers which re-encrypt the message between remailers. If done properly, it is nearly impossible to trace.

It is strongly recommended that you use a utility program, such as Jack B. Nymble v2 (JBN2) - JBN2 from panta or Quicksilver when setting up an account at these remailers. You can do it without any of this software, just be prepared to spend some time testing and troubleshooting. There are currently only few public nym servers. For information on setting up an account at them send a blank email or Finger the address below and look up their web pages, where available. Currently, there is also a Weekly List of Nym Accounts by Nymfinder (nym.alias.net) on alt.anonymous.messages ('Please add new Nym Servers to this list and delete the ones which are not active any more')
